I am a winner. I finished my Olympic sweater with hours to spare. I must say, this is my best seaming job ever. The real challenge for me was to not rush it and actually line all the stitches up in their proper places. I decided not to add the sash because the sweater was a bit roomy (even though my gauge was smaller than stated) and a empire style belt just made the whole thing very unappealing to me. Pictures will follow. In the mean time, enjoy my flashy medal, created by Franklin..

The Family that watches Firefly together...

wears Jayne hats together.

Poor hubby was feeling ill the other day so I thought I'd cheer him up with a handknit surprise. We'd started watching Firefly on DVD after loving Serenity so much. I knew of the mysterious Jayne hat, but we hadn't gotten to the episode which featured it. I figured we'd hit it that night because we were down to one disk. So I placed Eddie's gift in a leftover x-mas gift box, and waited for the hat to appear on screen. Lucky for me, it was within the first five minutes of the first episode. Jayne receives a package from his mom; I hopped up from my chair and gave the gift box to Eddie and told him, "Open it at the same time Jayne opens the present from his mom." He obliged and gave me the most priceless, wonderful look. "How did you know that was going to happen?" was his stunned reaction. Later, in telling the story to our housemate, he said, "It was magical." And that, dear friends, is a good reason to knit.

It was time for a diet. I needed to lose a few ounces. Cut away the fluff and get to the lean. By fluff, I mean acrylic, fun furs, and anything that had given me undue attitude over the past few years.



These are my sorted piles; you'll get a special prize from me if you can name all the fiber categories into which I sorted my yarn. The prize: glory, baby, glory...And all my redheart and lion brand stuff.

I also found all these needles and tools I'd been searching for (my size 6 addi natura 24" circulars still elude me!)
